Questions people ask

About HaqOFF, and about renting in Mumbai.

Is HaqOFF a replacement for a lawyer?

No. HaqOFF is a legal information tool, not a law firm. It reads your agreement, tells you what can hurt you and what to ask, and says when something needs a lawyer. For a dispute, or anything with a lot of money on it, consult a licensed advocate.

What is the free first check?

Upload your agreement and, without an account, we check the numbers and wording on our own servers: the deposit against the rent, the lock-in against the term, forfeiture, one-sided termination, entry without notice, and the clauses that are missing. Nothing is sent to an AI provider until you ask for the full report.

What does the full report add?

Every clause explained in plain language, missing protections and what to add, a check against Maharashtra law and registration rules, stamp duty and registration cost, questions answered about your agreement, and replacement wording you can send back. It comes with a free account, which includes two full reports.

Which documents does HaqOFF support?

Mumbai residential rental agreements and leave-and-licence agreements, under Maharashtra law. Commercial leases and sale deeds are not supported yet. A document that is not a tenancy agreement is refused before anything is analysed.

Is my document stored or shared?

The free check keeps only the text, for 24 hours, until you decide to save it. A saved report keeps the file in private storage that only your account can read, and its text is read by an AI provider outside India to produce the full report. Nothing is shared with anyone. You can download everything we hold, or delete your account, from the account page.

What is a leave-and-licence agreement?

The most common form of residential rental contract in Maharashtra. It grants the licensee permission to use the property for a fixed period without creating a tenancy, and it has to be registered. Typically it runs for eleven months.

How accurate is the analysis?

The numbers and wording checks are deterministic and quote your document verbatim. The clause-by-clause reading is produced by a model and can be wrong; where we could not find a quoted wording in your document we say so and keep the quotation marks off. Always cross-check anything that matters with a professional.

How do I pay?

By UPI, to our account, and you paste the reference. A person checks it against our bank receipts, usually within a few hours, and emails you when the plan is on. Nothing renews by itself.

Can brokers use HaqOFF?

Yes. Pick the broker side and the reading is neutral for both parties; the read-only share link lets you send the findings to the landlord and the tenant without sending the document.
